SO THEN. TELL US WHAT YOU LOOK LIKE?

For the better part of her life Shizuka had a thin, athletic body that few men would call pleasing to the eye. Her curves were almost non-existent, earning her lots of “flat-chested” comments, and her general body shape the nickname “Stick Figure”. Recently this has begun to change. In the past few months she has been doing a lot of changing; both physically and emotionally. Physically she grew almost an inch, putting her at a still quite short height of 162cm. She is still thin, though she keeps her exact weight a tightly guarded secret. The biggest changes in her appearance are her forehead, which she has grown into though it remains a bit larger than most, and her curves, which have finally developed. She is not, however, what anyone would call voluptuous. She is in fact fairly average, although she is no longer quite as uncomfortable in her own body as she had been a few years before since the level of teasing she has received has gone down significantly.
Probably the most startling feature about her is her hair, which is a light shade of red. She keeps it styled very short with long bangs trimmed so that they cover her forehead as well as frame her face. She will often wear a headband, though it serves no real purpose. Her eyes are a deep gray that are brimming with life and good humor. Not to say that she is always cheerful; no, even she has her bad days. On those days her entire demeanor shifts violently, her appearance changing to match. Her eyes narrow and fill with anger, her face flushes red, and a vein on the right side of her forehead becomes quite prominent. Her mouth is small and is prone to smiling, while her nose is slightly crooked. This is due to an accident she had a few years back where she fell out of a tree, landing face first on the ground.
Shizuka’s clothing most commonly consists of cute, comfortable clothes that are easy to move in. As she is rather clumsy her clothes will often have either holes or patches showing that they have been mended repeatedly. As she wears dresses a lot of the time her knees and arms are usually bare, revealing several bandages at a time. On occasion she has been asked if someone was hitting her, though she would always laugh it off and reply that no, she was just clumsy. So clumsy in fact that it is quite common for her to trip over her own two feet even when there’s nothing there to trip on.
OKAY, WHY DON'T YOU TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR FABULOUS SELF?
Shizuka is, in general, a very bubbly person. She likes to smile and laugh, and she likes making other people happy. This sometimes goes to the extent of her putting others’ happiness far above her own and even forgetting her own needs when she is attempting to make them happy. She has been known to work herself until exhaustion forces her to stop, forgetting to take care of herself. As a child she had next to no confidence in herself or her abilities due to years of teasing about her appearance as well as her “know-it-all” like attitude when it came to learning. Although she has grown more confident over the years, sometimes that same complex will rear its ugly head and she’ll fall into a minor depression, muttering about how she’s still not useful or as strong as she should be. Fortunately this does not happen as often anymore. She believes that so long as she stays positive and tries to overcome her faults and weaknesses she can never be considered to be useless again.
Although she is quite book smart and very good at memorizing facts, she is incredibly lacking when it comes to common sense. She can be very naïve and make naïve decisions regarding everyday matters. This can include but is not limited to how she should handle a fight, or whether or not she should travel alone at night. She can also be a bit pigheaded, in the respect that if she has made up her mind about something, and then someone tries to tell her to do it another way, she may not listen. For instance if she were told to stay out of an argument between two others that could very well turn violent, and she had already decided to intervene than she will do what she wants and not what she has been told. Also do to this lack of common sense and naiveté she can be rather insensitive at times, saying things that are more inappropriate than anything else. And unless she is told that it was the wrong thing to say she will quite possibly remain oblivious to the fact that she ever said anything wrong at all.
Although Shizuka gets along with most people (well, as long as they’re girls that is) fairly well there are also cases where she just can’t seem to relate to others. These instances are usually involving people who view the world pessimistically or who find her to be “an annoying bother” due to her behavior, looks, or whatever. For the most part she feels that they are entitled to their opinions and won’t try to change their minds, even about her. She believes that if they want to like her than they will, and if not, then so be it. To try and change their minds would just be wrong, no question about it. When her friends are mad at her for whatever reason she will do everything that she can in order to try to repair their friendship, even if she doesn’t understand what went wrong. She is most certainly the type of person who, when a friend is ignoring her, will apologize profusely even if she doesn’t remember doing anything to upset them. Not because she dislikes having people hate her, but rather because she dislikes seeing other people unhappy or upset about anything. Not to mention the fact that she deeply cares about all of her friends and their friendship.
Also because she is so trusting of others (and naïve) it is very easy to trick her. Anyone who wanted to could no doubt control her actions simply by giving her a believable story. It would be even easier if they attempted to get her to pity them. This does not necessarily extend to boys though, as things always seem to become much more complicated involving them. Shizuka has very few lasting relationships with boys, either friendship or otherwise. As she sees it, men are idiots, plain and simple. They like to get in pointless fights for no apparent reason, they like to train until they’re almost dead, and they like to hit on (and peep at) women regardless of whether or not the woman appears interested. And that annoys her to no end. She hates it when men start randomly beating each other, but she hates it even more when they try to do things to themselves out of some misguided desire for either power, redemption, or other reasons that she deems misguided. Then there is the teasing she had to endure as a child, which also very possibly has something to do with it.
INTERESTING. AND WHAT ABOUT YOUR FAMILY LIFE?
Twenty-three years ago Keisuke Fuwa, a computer programmer, met Emiko Fujibayashi, an interior designer. Now they did not meet like ordinary couples; no, they met shortly before their arranged marriage. In fact the two only laid eyes on one another twice before their wedding day. No one could say that they were in love, or that they ever would be in love, though many said that they were a perfect match all the same. Both relatively cold people, they cared more about career advancement than the things that others would call the most important things in life: love, a family, and happiness. The Fuwa family was native to Tokyo, but moved to Osaka when the computer software company where Keisuke worked transferred him. Emiko hated to have to move, even more so since her business was just starting to really take off. Due to this she began to greatly resent her husband and the company that employed him.
To get back at him Emiko began to see someone else on the side; a higher up at the exact same company that her husband worked for. In the beginning she thought that this would be enough to show her husband that she virtually hated him. It wasn’t too long before she learned that she wasn’t the only one to be having an affair, as one night she discovered email sent from her husband to another woman. This shocked her, but she could hardly say that she was broken hearted because of it. After all, she was doing the same thing, and it wasn’t like she cared for either man that greatly. One year after her discovery Emiko found herself with child, though she had absolutely no clue whose it was. Not wanting her husband to know about her infidelity she told him that the child was his. One year later they had their first child, Touya. From birth he seemed to be an overachiever; exactly what the couple wanted to see. He didn’t cry, or scream, and he never made any messes. Despite their own sham of a relationship the couple did actually find themselves caring for their son. Though this did not stop either from continuing on with their affairs.
As Touya grew older Emiko became more and more certain that he was in fact a result of her affair rather than a product of her marriage. The guilt grew, and grew, until finally she could bear it no longer. The right thing to do would have been to tell Keisuke the truth, but no, she didn’t want to sully the good name of Fuwa. So instead she broke off her affair and seduced her husband. Much to her relief she soon became pregnant, allowing her to finally stop feeling so guilty over Touya. Nine months later she gave birth to a healthy baby girl who was the exact opposite of her older brother; which of course was just more proof that Touya wasn’t Keisuke’s. Shizuka would cry and cry for hours, forgotten by a mother who had resumed her nightly liaisons and ignored by a man who couldn’t care less about having a daughter. Instead of taking care of her themselves they hired a nanny to watch over her.
The only person in her family that she was ever close to at all in fact was her older brother Touya, who played with her once she got a bit older. However this all ended when their parents sent him off to Tokyo to school at the tender age of seven. Although he was young they felt that boarding school would be the right place for him. Especially since they thought he spent far too much time around his four-year-old sister. Shizuka was far too young at the time to understand where her brother had gone, and would often sit at one of the front windows and stare out it for hours, waiting for Touya to come back home. That year at Christmastime Touya did indeed return home for the break, though he had changed a great deal. Now eight he had started to become serious and distant, more and more like Keisuke. Shizuka tried to get him to play with her, but he never would.
After a while she gave up trying and got used to playing alone. By the time she reached the age of seven she wondered if she too would be sent off by her parents. However, they were too busy dealing with their own secrets, lies, and problems to even begin contemplating what to do with their forgotten child. Luckily for them they didn’t have to worry about her for much longer as she was soon dragged into the Digital World. This was possibly the best thing that ever happened to the girl. As it was done at such an early age she doesn’t remember much about her life with her family. Actually, on the occasion that she’ll actually try and remember the only things she can recall are vague pictures of a man and a woman, slightly less vague images of the nanny that had been raising her, and her brother. Yes, even after over a decade passed she still remembered her brother. She missed him sometimes and wondered how he was doing, though in the end she always ended up just letting it drop. It was for the best for her to be here and for him to be there. He fit in there; he was wanted, while she was not.
At least in the Digital World she felt wanted and cared for. She even made some friends who didn’t seem to think negatively of her. Well, most of the time anyway. As she got older and learned more about the Digital World she grew more and more excited by the prospect of having a Digimon partner of her own. She didn’t really understand much about the different factions, or why they didn’t seem to get along, nor did she want to have to fight. All the same she trusted that the Eastern Hemisphere leader knew what he was doing and that whatever he decided was for the greater good. Therefore she was prepared, or at least semi-prepared to go along with whatever was chosen for her. For the time being at least. All she hopes for is that she and her partner will be the best that they can be and make lots of wonderful new friends.

ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE {Not the best, but...}
For some people it took years and years for memories to begin to fade. For Shizuka her memories of the life she had led before the Digital World had faded in months. Sometimes it made her sad to think that while others remembered their parents, and some even friends, she remembered nothing but vague images and sounds. She couldn’t even say for sure if what she thought she remembered was the truth. For all she knew those ‘memories’ were nothing more than illusions that her own mind had created in order to provide her with some comfort. There was just no way to know for sure if anything or anyone she remembered was real or not. Well, except for one thing. The only thing she could remember for sure was her brother, and even those precious memories were beginning to fade from her mind as well. She doubted that in another ten years she would even remember him. It was a depressing thought. And today just didn’t seem like the kind of day for sad memories or depressing thoughts. It was a beautiful, warm summer morning. The sun was shining, the sky was clear, and the water in a nearby brook was crystal clear.
And besides, she had to cheer up in order to go meet up with a friend a little later. After all, she didn’t want to show up acting depressed or with a false smile, because that wouldn’t be fair to her friend. Especially not fair considering today was supposed to be a happy day filled with laughter and good news. Miki had told her just yesterday that she had something really important and exciting to tell her. Shizuka had a feeling that it was about receiving a Digimon as a partner, though she couldn’t be sure of that. It seemed like everyone had or was getting a partner nowadays… although it made her a little sad to think that she wasn’t one of them she knew that someday soon she could very possibly get one of her very own. And then they could go on adventures and make lots of new friends. She just had to be patient. The thought always made her smile and try her best at whatever she did, in hope of one day becoming worthy of having her own Digimon. Until then she could still enjoy seeing her friends with their partners. And that was almost as good, in a way, since it meant that they were all happy. And seeing them happy like that always made her happy too.
Smiling to herself Shizuka pushed herself up off the ground, dusting a bit of dirt and cut grass off of her dress. It was time to meet Miki and all things depressing were in the past. Best to look to the future and forget the past. Well, alright, maybe not forget it, but at least not let it worry her too much. Humming softly the girl took one step, slipped, and fell onto her knees. Groaning she slowly pulled herself up again. ”That hurt…” she murmured, wincing with pain as she tried and failed to stand. Okay, maybe she wouldn’t be going to see Miki quite yet. At least not until her knees stopped throbbing. With a sigh she leaned back on the grass and gazed up at the sky. ”Sorry Miki…looks like I’ll be late again,” she muttered, knowing that all she could really do was hope that her friend wouldn’t be too upset with her for this.
