i had this sadness creepin' like vines over me i didn't get what i want so i just took what wanted me terriermon flew up high into the air once more, the wind catching his ears and puffing them out like two little parachutes, allowing him to drift lazily to the ground. the bouncy surface of primary village’s ground proved to be both entertaining and exhausting for the rookie digimon, who flopped down on his back with his limbs splayed out around him, tired and limp, with his breath coming out in harsh puffs between his elated giggles. a few feet away, gray watched his partner out of the corner of his eye. a small smile tugged at the edges of his chapped lips and he allowed himself a soft chuckle at the antics of his best friend before he returned his attention to the small botamon cradled in his hands. botamon was his favorite of the newly hatched digimon in primary village. the black ball of fluff reminded him of home, of the kitty cat stuffed animal his mother had given to him for his fifth birthday. the young digidestined rocked the infant digimon back and forth in his arms, humming a song his mother used to hum to him to get him to sleep. botamon responded with a soft coo as he began to fall asleep, yellow eyes slowly shutting, blinking, struggling to remain open, until its lids became too heavy and the baby had no choice but to shut his eyes and drift off to sleep. to gray's surprise, the little ball of sleeping fuzz began to snore softly, blowing small bubbles out of his mouth with each sleep-heavy exhalation. careful not to wake the tiny bundle of cute within his arms, gray gently placed the botamon back in his tiny crib, where he squirmed and cooed and promptly fell right back to sleep. “ goodnight, botamon,” gray whispered, giving his tiny friend a light stroke before tip-toeing away from the crib that contained it. gray enjoyed his time in primary village, where he was a quite frequent visitor. being there, surrounded by all of those tiny babies, those innocent little creatures and the eggs they were born from, he could almost forget about the violence that surrounded them, the impending danger and the fear that weighed heavy on his heart. looking towards terriermon, that weight only became heavier. his best friend was supposed to be his protector, his warrior. gray didn't want that. he didn't want to fight and he certainly didn't want terriermon to. primary village was the only place he felt he could escape that weight. still, it followed. it couldn't help but follow. gray crept slowly towards his friend, careful not to alert the half-snoozing rookie of his presence. when he neared him, he flopped down beside him, causing terriermon to bounce up into the air a bit. startled, terriermon let out a panicked squeak before quickly realizing that there was no danger. once back on the ground, he rolled onto his stomach to survey his partner, who was now lounging on the trampoline ground with his hands cradling his head like a pillow. he gave gray a light shove. " you scared me," terriermon admonished his partner, before curling against his side and wrapping one long ear over his best friend's torso. " did you get the cry-baby to be quiet?" he asked, though his voice faded and wavered, his tiredness seeping through into his tone. gray hefted up an arm and curled it around terriermon's small body. “ do you hear anything?” gray asked dryly. “ he just wanted a bit of attention, i think. i mean, i'm not an expert, but -- well, wouldn't you want attention?” gray lifted his head to look at his partner, whose eyes were shut. clearly terriermon wasn't too interested in the answer to his question, gray thought, giving a soft smile at the sight of his snoozing partner. what was that, gray thought, carefully sitting up so not to wake his partner. the blue eyed boy had definitely heard something -- something like a whisper. it sounded, he thought, like his name. it couldn't have been, he told himself as he stood, beginning in the direction he thought he heard the noise coming from. alert and a little bit afraid, gray's eyes began constantly sweeping the surrounding area for any signs of, well, anything. it looked like it was just him, his sleeping partner, and a bunch of babies and digieggs, no one capable of saying anything even remotely close to his name. still, he knew he heard something and that meant that there could be a predator around. a predator in primary village. " terriermon, terrie," gray whispered harshly, hoping to wake only his partner and not cause countless babies to wake up crying. terriermon snored loudly in response. " useless rabbit." he breathed. " i heard that," a now wide-awake terriermon answered as he flew towards gray, landing gracefully on the young boy's shoulder. " of course you did!" gray sighed. he continued to walk, leaving the field of digieggs. that's when he saw it, a few more feet away, far removed from the rest of the digieggs. he was drawn to it, somehow, but not in a way that he would ever be able to explain. somehow, he just felt -- connected to it. it was strange looking, not like any of the other digieggs he had seen in primary village, decorated in moon-grays and sky-blues, with speckles of deep and vibrant purple. he neared the little digiegg, kneeling beside it to inspect it further. could it have called out to me, gray thought, is that even possible?" you found a digiegg in primary village, congratulations!" terriermon moaned sarcastically, before he, too inspected the egg. he recognized it as gray's immediately, although he wasn't quite sure why, and felt a tinge of jealousy. if gray found a new partner, terriermon thought, where would that leave him? certainly gray only needed one best friend. terriermon reached an ear out and poked the digiegg, causing it to wobble precariously. before it could fall, gray reached out and scooped it into his arms. " careful!" gray warned, holding the digiegg tight to his chest. terriermon bashfully toed the ground, not meeting gray's gaze. gray failed to notice this, however, too preoccupied with inspecting the egg itself, wondering what it could possibly contain. and so it begins, that jealous part of terriermon's mind thought. This was one of the good things about this little village, it was close to their base and on top of that one could see the cute baby Digimon as much as they wanted. Besides, the Elecmon around here always seemed like they were looking for that extra help, since so many eggs came around these parts. That was probably why Leah found herself here once more, because she had managed to find herself a Digiegg. And if there was any place around the Digital World that knew about Digieggs than it would be this place. So as far as Leah was concerned, this definitely was the best place to go.
Plus, she couldn't help but want to see the baby Digimon that lurked around here anyway, they were way too cute to pass up on. "Ah! Shouldn't you be in bed, little one?" Leah cooed as she caught sight of a small black puff ball, the bright yellow eyes grinned slightly as it bounced on over to her. The mouth opened widely and let out a loud yawn and bounced upwards once more, Leah grinned and shifted the weight of the egg in her arms so she could pick up the Botamon as well. "Come on, we'll find your bed so you can get some sleep as well." she stated and shifted the two once more.
She knew well enough where the little baby Digimon slept, and i only took her a few minutes to carry the little one into the sleeping quarters. Greeted by one of the Elecmon there she grinned to him and he nodded back with a soft sort of smile. Ahh yes, even when this place was quiet and not bustling with the excitement that one might anticipate Leah still found a funness in the surrounding area. Though, as she stepped back out of the little nesting area she blinked a moment at the sound of a familiar voice. One that she was almost certain she recognized as Grey. Although, that could only be determined once she followed the sound of the voice to the actual owner of it.
So she stepped forward, moving towards the famous field that held all those different colored eggs, that woud one day hatch into different sorts of Digimon. Leah always found herself intrigued whenever she came to this place, especially when she was able to hang around and watch one of the many eggs hatch. But this wasn't the thing that held her attention at the time, a wide smile laced her features as she caught sight of the back of the male she knew. Ah! So she had been right, Gray was here. As well as his partner Terriermon; the smile grew wider as she inched her way over to him and pausing as she reached him peaked over his shoulder.
"Ahhh? Did you find yourself an egg?" Leah questioned tilting her head to the side a bit she grinned and held out her own darkly colored egg. "Me to!" exclaiming she pulled the dark egg closer to her chest once more. "Yours looks really cute though. This one makes me think that its something darker." However, Leah was hardly the sort of person that could really make any for sure guesses. This was something of her own speculation, rather than any sort of fact that she could go off of. "How long have you had yours for?"
"...I swear...I can't leave you alone for one second without you disappearing." came the grumbling as a white long creature made its way in the direction of the two humans and then the little rabbit that was partnered with the male. Funny, how his Tamer always managed to find someone when she was out wandering on her own, and in this case it was another troublesome sort of person. Although, as many knew, Kael found most people around these parts to be rather troublesome, even if he would look after them when it came down to it.
Kael, the protector the one who estentially raised Leah was the one who remained to act like a parent for the nineteen year old girl. Not that he could say he really disliked it, it always made him feel like he had an important role that no one else could take over. Of course, he also knew that the other was very capable of driving him insane, as she was starting to do with her continuous wanderings. In this case, he now had to worry about her and those of the opposite gender, even if the one she was with now was someone she was related to.
It never ceased to worry him.
"Hey! You three! What are you doing around these parts?" He questioned as he came closer to where they were. His pointed ears perked upwards as they surved around listening to the surrounding area. "Theres rumors of some wild Digimon causing problems around here, so we shouldn't hang around these parts for much longer." he warned, moving himself to rest on his rightful place. Wrapped around Leah's shoulders he looked to Grey and Terriermon for a moment and then back to the Egg that the other was sporting.
"How very odd...Your twin has one of those as well..." He murmured eyeing it carefully and then glancing back down to Leah's as well. "They seem to be spiking up for a number of people." Of course, he wanted to have the chance to study them and figure out why the second partners were appearing to these humans, but he knew at least at the current time, it wasn't going to happen.

i had this sadness creepin' like vines over me i didn't get what i want so i just took what wanted me ,” he answered her question tersely, still recovering from the mild fright she had given him. cute, gray mulled over her word for a moment. compared to her dark digiegg, his did look cute. glancing at terriermon out of the corner of his eye, he felt himself hoping for something a bit less cute – maybe a bit more intimidating – manly. his father had told him stories about his own fierce digimon, an agumon: large, with sharp claws and teeth and the ability to digivolve into truly fearsome creatures – like greymon, the boy’s namesake. though gray had yet to see terriermon digivolve, he imagined it would be something somewhat similar to his rookie state – a cute little bunny rabbit type creature – not the kind of beast that would chase away any enemy worth its weight in evil plots. still, gray couldn’t discount the bravery of his small protector – terriermon definitely had big dog syndrome. he didn’t seem to be aware of his tiny stature and adorable features. well, okay, he was definitely aware of his adorable-ness and hammed it up quite often. still, though, terriermon seemed to view himself as something to be feared. it was a trait that often caused gray to worry, as terriermon wouldn't even think before attempting to take on a digimon much larger and stronger than he could ever hope to be. gray's main priority was keeping terriermon safe, and the tiny terror's courageous streak occasionally made it very, very hard. “ it could surprise you. you think you’re getting something dark and then, before you know it, another one of him,” gray pointed a thumb towards terriermon, “ could pop out of there.” he finished with a chuckle as terriermon huffed in displeasure. “ she’d be lucky to have someone like me on her side!” the digimon countered, flexing his miniscule muscles, a little more than jokingly offended at his partner's remark, though he played it off like his pride wasn't at all injured. gray's smile softened as he surveyed his partner from the corner of his eye. " yeah, she would be," gray admitted quietly, ruffling the soft fuzz atop terriermon's head, careful to avoid the semi-sharp horn protruding from his otherwise adorable skull. " i just found it. it was like it was,--" gray began to answer leah's question before trailing off rather suddenly, not wanting to embarrass himself with a story about a talking egg. " i don't know," he attempted to cover his tracks, however dismal the attempt proved to be." it just feels different than the rest of them." stated the young digidestined, as he glanced over at the field of digieggs a few feet away. as leah's kudamon neared, gray's eyes snapped to the small creature, only slightly startled by his sudden appearance -- he had figured leah's partner couldn't be too far behind. if they were anything like himself and terriermon, anyway. the teen figured that most digidestined and their partners didn't stray too far from each other -- perhaps others weren't so attached at the hip as he and terriermon were, but he couldn't imagine a team that separated for any real amount of time. he nodded respectfully to the approaching digimon. " aren't wild digimon causing trouble near primary village a reason to stay?" terriermon argued, never one to run from a fight or a threat. besides, he knew primary village was one of gray's favorite places, and he would do absolutely anything to protect the things his partner loved. " terrie," gray spoke softly, making eye contact with terriermon. " you're only a rookie. you know we can't handle a real threat." the boy reasoned, hoping his enthusiastic young digimon would be able to see the logic in his claim. terriermon seemed to understand, though he clearly didn't like being held back as his posture slumped and his gaze fell. terriermon truly believed he could take on the world, nothing had ever happened to the two of them that caused him to doubt that. and, with the new digiegg on the scene, he felt particularly driven to prove himself in battle -- to prove to gray that he didn't need another partner, that he had everything he could possibly need already. “ tess?” gray’s voice came out quiet, almost a whisper, before he pushed away whatever he was feeling and moved on. “ they are?” he asked, regarding kudamon with a fair amount of seriousness. ” does that mean, you know, that it’s mine? definitely?” he asked tentatively, cradling the egg closer to his chest protectively and hoping that the answer would be yes. he already felt so connected to it, the thought of having to give it up, to let it hatch and grow and eventually leave both him and primary village was a horrifying thought. there was something about this egg – it felt as though it was as much a part of him as terriermon was, a missing piece finally settling into the puzzle. not an easy edge piece, either. an ambiguous, strange center piece. Leah couldn't could but find the fact that she managed to at least surprise the other to the slightest extent. Although the cute little rabbit that was waving to her was the thing that got her to beam, the expression growing across her lightly freckled face. Waving back to the other she withheld the feeling of wanting to bounce the two, and tickle the little rabbit. Or gently pinch the cheeks, as an aunt might do to one of her favorite nieces or nephews. However, who wouldn't that the little cream colored and green rabbit wasn't cute? "Terriermon!" she exclaimed, stopping once the other had discovered her and lightly tapped the black nose of the rabbit. "I hope he hasn't bored you stiff yet." she teased before grinning as she looked to Grey.
Kael turned his attention from the eggs that he found so interesting and looked to the Terriermon. He was another one of those who he found to be troublesome, and yet also held that endearing factor to it. Though that probably had something to do with the fact that Leah managed to squeeze her way right into his heart with the same sort of thing. That overly happy and child like attitude of hers and the way that she managed to sneak her way in there and had yet to leave, even if it meant he had to put up with all her troublesomeness along side it. But hey, when you had a partner like that it meant someone had to look out for them, and this case it was him. Even if it was tedious from time to time, it still wasn't something that he was about to hand over to someone else.
"Ahh..Careful!" Leah advised as she watched the wibble wobble that occurred between the two. It was almost like one of those fairly old toys that she would watch on television in commercials while she was younger. An odd sort of thought, but still something that reminded her of them. "Thats odd that we've all got these eggs." she murmured, more so to herself than she really was offering the thought to Gray. Drawn from her thoughts at the nudge she gained from Kael she blinked her lightly colored eyes for a moment and looked to him with a questioning sort of look.
"We need to think about moving on, rather than simply staying around these parts." he warned a second time before snorting quietly at the response that Terriermon had given. "You want us to stick around and wait to see if we even stand a chance or not?" he enquired. This thought was not something the white weasel wanted to really consider, especially since he was already nervous about what level, what strength, the other Digimon may have over the two of them there. Though, in the back of his head he had a feeling with the two of them it wouldn't be something that would go down so quickly. That the two of them may stand a chance against something, even if they were at a Champion level while they remained in the level that they were currently at. Hell, Kael knew he wanted to believe that he could take it, even if the strength level may be something to still worry about. "We can't simply decide to stick around if theres a chance we make things worse because we don't meet whatever it is strength."
"Pssshh...Party pooper. Where's that confidence? Hmmmm?" Leah teased poking the cheek a couple of times, a grin coming to her once more. "I'm not a--" he was cut off when he heard what it was that Gray said. "Well, I suppose that is true." concluded Leah as she looked to Terriermon and grinned, "Oh yes, I would love to have someone cute and fun like you. Besides, he'll become more manly when he goes to the next stage. Won't you?" she said with another beam and a wink before looking back to Gray. She knew the teasing was just that, especially since she had seen the two interact so many times before, and Leah knew if anyone had a strong bond then it would be the two who stood before her. There was always just a strong confidence between the two, the sort of feeling that she wished she could give off when it came to herself and Kael.
"Pssh..." this time the snort came from Kael as he heard the retorts going on around him. "Please, I'm the only one who would be able to handle what she puts me through. I'll have to train the little one that comes from that egg to be ready for her and her little adventures or bursts of laughter...Or any other oddities that she goes through." He said, even if there was a sort of teasing to his tone he nudged her again when he saw the pout that began to curl at her bottom lip. "I'm just kidding, come on kid." He added nudging her once more with a gentle smile of sorts. Which got Leah to chuckle and shake her head, "So easily taken in." she said and blinked as she noticed the almost surprised tone coming from Gray.
"Thats right, Tess had managed to find one as well, when I saw her last. Hers was different from either one of ours as well, so I suspect that she's got herself something rather different." This brought her to stroke her chin for a moment as she pondered what it could be. "I have to say, I really am excited to see what will come out, to see how they'll act and to know that I get to raise them from the time that they hatch." A gentle smile appearing once more.
Kudamon blinked a moment and then nodded, "Mmhmm. From what I can tell is that certain people were given a second partner, I haven't seen any signs of them being taken away or anything." Kael stated as he drifted from her shoulder and floated down towards the egg, where Gray held onto it. "It certainly does hold the same sort of feeling that I've been told I produce." he mumbled and looked up to Gray with a sort of smirk. "So something that holds a holy sort of presence. So you should be prepared for that, at least." he paused a moment, "Though they have been known to hold more power because of this, but I suppose it also depends on what it is that comes from the egg."

i had this sadness creepin' like vines over me i didn't get what i want so i just took what wanted me !” terriermon exclaimed, continuing to flex his tiny muscles. still, he really had no idea what to expect of his next stage. for all he knew, he could be something even smaller and cuddlier, and how disappointed gray would be, then. though gray had never expressed to his small friend any disappointment, terriermon could see it in his eyes. the way he looked at the larger digimon, the way he spoke about his father’s own large digimon. terriermon knew that he wasn’t quite what gray had expected in his own partner. “ that sounds like fun!” terriermon stated in response to kudamon’s comment about having to train leah’s new digimon. he often wondered why he hadn’t been given to someone like leah, whose personality matched his own so well, rather than placed with gray, who was nearly his opposite. though, of course, the more the small digimon thought about it, the more sense it made. gray kept him safe, kept him healthy, kept him from being stupid. and he provided a service for gray as well, pulling the young man out of his comfort zone, forcing him to adapt, training him to be stronger than he was when they had first met. they rubbed off on each other in all the right ways, there was no denying that, and it seemed to be the same for leah and kudamon. would gray’s new digimon be able to say the same? “ holy?” gray asked, voice quiet and tentative, as he felt suddenly nervous about this small egg he held tight to his chest. was he strong enough to handle a holy digimon? and, moreover, was he worthy of it? he had to wonder if this digiegg was really meant for him, or if it was just some sort of mistake that he had found it – had heard it. initially, gray had been overjoyed to find it, happy to welcome a new partner into his own life as well as terriermon’s in the same way leah was. he was eager to see what the unusual egg hatched, eager to bond with the creature within it, eager to make a new friend - a new partner. now, though, the young digidestined worried that he wouldn’t be able to handle such a responsibility, or able to control a possibly powerful—possibly holy—digimon. he often found terriermon to be more than a handful, reining in his willful, somewhat powerful friend was a chore he could only barely manage most days. would this new digimon listen to him? “ why do you guys need second digimon, anyway?” asked the rabbit-like creature indignantly, crossing his tiny arms over his chest. the small digimon had mistaken his partner’s nervousness for excitement and felt infinitely more threatened and jealous. if gray had a new holy digimon then, well, how was he to compete with such a creature? surely, terriermon thought, he would fall by the wayside. " didn't the old digidestined kids do it fine with just one partner?" he asked, keeping his indignant tone. gray gave a slight cringe at terriermon's comment, though he tried his hardest to hide his reaction. the thought had popped into his mind, of course. his father and his father's friends had defeated countless evils and saved both the digital world and their own with only one partner, leading gray to wonder what was wrong with him, and what was wrong with his friends, that they may require two. would his father be disappointed in him, he wondered. now idly toeing the ground beneath his feet, gray found himself lost in thought. noticing his descent into his own mind, terriermon took flight momentarily, drifting through the air around the group with ease. " if we're going to cowardly run away from the possibility of enemies, we should probably go." terriermon stated impatiently. " i still think it would be better if we stayed to protect primary village." he said a few moments later, once more landing on gray's shoulder. “ it isn't cowardly, it's smart.” gray replied, moving the egg from the cradle of his arms to under his left arm, sure to keep a tight hold on it. " we aren't much protection, you know. we can barely even keep ourselves safe." he reminded his friend, giving him a playful poke in the stomach with his free hand. despite himself, terriermon giggled a little before nodding in agreement. obviously he wanted to stay and fight, but he could see wisdom in his partner's words and who was he to disobey. " and, i mean, who's to say they aren't just targeting this place because we're here?" he asked somewhat sorrowfully. he didn't want to cause any harm to primary village. were it to be attacked simply because the digidestined and their digimon frequented the area, gray knew he would never stop feeling guilt over it.
